JANUARY 2014

How big is your Eco Print?

We worked together to find out about our Eco Footprint .

We all scored quite low - which is good.

However there are  things that we can do to make our footprint a little smaller.

What can you  do?

MARCH 2013

SUKHMANI / MARYAM

Over the past month the Eco Committee  has been busy discussing about lunchtime. We call it operation L.W.L  (aka) less Waste Lunch. We have been discussing about what we like, and what we don’t like and had sent a questionnaire to all the classes on how to change the lunch hall. We thank you for all your ideas and opinions. We have come up with some slogans. There are other ideas that we come up with too.

 SHIRLEY

If you have a packed lunch it’s best to bring a plastic container that can be washed rather than cling film or silver foil.

  ROSA

If you’re a school dinner try and pick food that you like because quite a lot of food that is thrown out is food that people don’t like and don’t want to eat it.

 RAYHAB

One class suggested dust pan and brushes for us to use. We thought this was a great idea.

 DAISY

If you drop crumbs please use the dustpan and brush – they are in the green baskets.

 NICOLE

Make sure you sweep the mess into the bins and no the storage basket.

TEIGHAN

We have made small posters which are on the tables to remind you to tidy up.

ZOFIA

This morning our wonderful Eco.Com made some great slogans. We will display them in the hall and on your class Eco wall.

 DEAN

“KEEP THE TABLES SHINY EVEN THOUGH THE FORKS ARE TINY”

 LEILA

“L.W.L IT’S A SWELL THING TO TELL!”

 SAMIYA

“TIDY YOUR SEAT – SO IT’S NEAT TO EAT”

 YAQEEN

“DON’T BE MEAN – KEEP OUR HALL CLEAN”

 ALISHA

“KEEP IT NEAT DOWN AT YOUR FEET”

 JASKARAN

“Thank you for listening. We hope our dinner hall is looking much better and neater than before.

DECEMBER 2012

Here is our recycled gift bags on sale at the winter fair!

We sold quite a lot but not as many as we had hoped.

We are not disappointed - each bag recycled and sold meant one less new bag not being bought .

Saves paper - saves trees.

Thank you to Ms Galloway and her team for all their efforts.

NOVEMBER 2012

To celebrate Queen Elizabeth's historic 2012 Diamond Jubilee, the Woodland Trust is helping millions of people across the UK to come together and plant 6 million trees. With HRH The Princess Royal as Patron, the Jubilee Woods project aims to create hundreds of Jubilee Woods and 60 special Diamond Woods, transforming our landscape in a generation and providing a lasting and meaningful tribute for many years to come.

To find out more information about the jubilee woods click here.

The first job for Eco.Com was to plant our Jubilee shrubs and trees. Thanks to Rhona and Pip ourhelpful Mums who came to help - and finished the job when we had to go back to class.

Click here  to find more information about the Jubilee woods.

We also planted a specail tree.

Each sapling has been grown from an acorn gathered from a royal estate around the country, enabling you to enjoy your own lifelong memento of this historic moment.

INTRODUCING ECO.COM 2012

There were so many enthusiastic pupils wanting to join the Eco Committee, we are going to have two groups this year - meet the first group - and then in February you will meet some new faces!!

Gift bag recycling  September 25th 2012

A group of children from  Eco.Com are working with Ms Galloway to recycle gift bags. They  hope to make other things to sell at the winter fair. If you have any old gift bags that we may be able to recycle please bring into school and give to Ms Galloway.
